Gross Motor
Children develop their gross motor skills as they run, jump, leap, hop, swing, slide and climb. These activities allow children to take risks and try out new skills.
These outdoor activities offer many opportunities to enrich and support children's development and learning.
Our aim is that children will
- experience a sense of accomplishment
- demonstrate growing competence
- feel a sense of pride when they master a new skill
- learn to share and take turns
- expand their vocabularies
- learn to recognise and manage their own feelings
- follow rules
- learn to co-operate with other children
- explore cause and effect
- development an awareness of position in space
At Lighthouse Child Care each room has a daily gross motor programme
